2016 Letter from the President
Mar 6, 2016, 1:42 am

Dear Members,

The 2016 outdoor tennis season is approaching. I'm sure many of you are looking forward to getting outdoors and playing, especially considering the warmer winter we’ve had and the weather ahead.

Welcome back to all of our returning members. A special welcome too to those new members who have chosen to join Applewood. Please make yourselves at home as soon as you can and get involved in some of our many friendly club activities.

There are many tennis activities for all levels and players including: adult friendlies, competitive leagues, house leagues, round robins, junior programs and tournaments. Socials will again be offered in the 2016 season and we want to make those a really special time.

Remember to thank all our Executive Committee members. We value the vital contributions made by them, as well as all of the many members who volunteer their time and energy, and greatly appreciate their continuing support. We are still looking for two Auditors, and someone to co-ordinate the tournaments. For those of you who can volunteer some of your time this season, please contact one of the Executive Committee.

This will, I’m sure, be another enjoyable year. We welcome your comments or suggestions, and hope that several members will come forward to help the Executive with these challenges.

Check the Calendar of Events in the Downloads section for dates and times. Early registration will be at the clubhouse on Saturday April 23rd from 11am to 2pm. On Sunday May 8th you can also register during Opening Day from 11 am to 2:00 pm, attend the Spring General Meeting from 2 to 2:30 pm, and play in the round robin from 2:30 to 4:30 pm. Looking forward to seeing you on the courts.

Yours truly

Volunteering it's not always easy, but ...

The Intercounty Tennis Association is very proud to announce that every year, many of its members are active volunteers during the Rogers Cup tennis tournament. From juniors participating in the Ball Crew, Promotions, etc to adult members involved in many other committees, we all share the same passion for tennis and try to make our Tournament one of the best in business.

This year, Tennis Canada is looking for extra volunteers for its various committees, particularly in the Transportation, Stadium Court Control, Pass Control/Outside Courts and Promotions Committees

If you are over the age of 25, and enjoy driving, and have a clean driving record,  consider joining Transportation Committee. You will have the opportunity to drive tournament guests in tournament vehicles. For any Transportation related inquiries, please send a message to transportationshifts@tenniscanada.com

You can sign up online for all volunteer committees at the Rogers Cup at http://www.rogerscup.com/tournament-info/volunteers Make sure you put ICTA in the optional field "How did you hear about the volunteer program".
